Promising Signs For An Active Real Estate Market
Here are a few thoughts shared by Compass CEO, Robert Reffkin and President Mark McLaughlin about real estate activity in the near future:
- The real estate market has already hit bottom and started bouncing back. Over the last 3 weeks or so, we’ve started seeing a meaningful increase in pending / in-contract and new listings activity.
- We have never been so intimately aware of the inadequacies of our homes. Have you found yourself saying, “Do I have enough indoor space? Outdoor space? Bedrooms? The right home office setup?” If the answer to any of these questions is ‘No,’ then it’s time to contact your Realtor.
- Buyer demand is strong. Buyers are seeing record-low interest rates, and have a sense that now’s a good time to get a good price.
- Summer is the new spring. Summers are normally slower because many people are on vacations. Not this year. The spring market wasn’t eliminated, it was deferred. That inventory is still going to come. And everyone’s canceling their international vacations.
- Life goes on. Births, engagements, divorce, death and downsizing are all happening as well, all of which translates to real estate movement.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has again hit the lowest level in our survey’s nearly 50-year history. According to Freddie Mac, the average rate for a 30-year conforming loan fell to 3.13% in the last week of May.
